Matt Carney (he/him)

I am a Latinx writer and musician living in San Francisco, where I work as a private tutor. My writing has appeared in indie journals like A cappella Zoo, Inkwell, Red Light Lit, sPARKLE & bLINK, Entropy, Anti-Heroin Chic, and in readings across California. My short story “On Becoming” was a finalist in Omnidawn’s 2017 Fabulist Fiction Contest, and another story, “In Fresno, One Last Bath in Dust,” was included in the Baobab Press anthology This Side of the Divide: New Lore of the American West. I am the co-creator and executive producer of the fabulist sci-fi performance series and journal Club Chicxulub, and I recently released my first LP of Art Rock/-wave/Industrial bops, Postcards From Doomsday, and 3 other EPs under the moniker N!.

My art frequently explores mythmaking, love, the relationships between humanity and cosmic uncertainty, and the darkness of societies unraveling, often through fantastic, satirical, and psychedelic lenses with lyric flourish.
